2023 Rosé of Cabernet Franc

2023 Rosé of Cabernet Franc

Few wines remind us of sea spray and sun quite like rosé.

And few grapes are as well poised as Cabernet Franc to capture Santa Barbara’s charm—and make it pink.

We make rosé to enjoy at our dinner table and on weekend jaunts year-round. This expression of Cabernet Franc lets us share the variety’s broad palette of aromas and flavors—particularly its bright, brambly fruit and cool herbal details. Our first wine bottled each year, this rosé is an early take on the vintage and a refreshing sipper for the seasons to come

In the Vineyards

Rosé is always a bit of a tightrope act. We make frequent visits to our trusty Cabernet Franc vineyards to assess their patient development. Over time, we’ve learned which sections of each vineyard cater to earlier harvest, as we seek to capture their fruit at a moment when it’s best suited to express minerality alongside fresh fruit and herbs.

In the Winery

We whole-cluster press our Cabernet Franc and naturally ferment the must in stainless steel tanks. We then briefly raise the wine in old barrels, just until mid-winter—and release it to you immediately so we can begin anticipating the warmer seasons ahead.
